We are a AKC Breeder of Merit! This program is designed to recognize ethical breeders with long term good standing with the AKC, are active members of AKC breed clubs, who health test their breeding adults to ensure healthier puppies, and for actively competing in AKC shows that award purebred dogs for their breeding quality as set by their parent club. These are the puppies I have available at this time. If you do not see what you are looking for here please feel free to contact me anyways and I can put you on my waiting list for future litters. We do have a waiting list but we do not necessarily go in 123 order. I try to match the right puppy with the right family based on its personality and needs.
We take a lot of pride in our breeding program and it shows in our pets. From day one our babies become part of our family and are very much loved and wanted. Each of our litters are carefully planned in order to produce healthy, sound, and beautiful Chihuahuas in accordance with standard set by the Chihuahua Club of America. Socializing our puppies starts right away. My 3 children spend a lot of time with them getting them used to new places and people. We litter box train all of our puppies starting at 4 weeks and they are usually 100% trained by 8 to 12 weeks. We are VERY big on health testing and feel it is the most important thing to be done before breeding a litter. All of our adults are health tested and CHIC certified in order to produce healthy babies.
We breed primarily for ourselves so that we will have a nice show puppy to bring into the show ring. Our litters are carefully thought out and planned to make the best quality Chihuahua in type, personality, and soundness. Sometimes that means we have to fly across the country to do a particular breeding. We spare no expenses in breeding the best quality litter each time. Often between a top stud fee, shipping back and for to a particular top stud, possible c-section a litter will cost us several thousand dollars to breed. Therefore when we do place a pet puppy they start between $2,500-$3,000 for male puppies and $3,000-3,500 for female puppies. Tiny puppies charting under 4 pounds start at $3,500. Price is determined by estimated adult size and quality.
We do occasionally have show prospects available. We take our breeding program very seriously and also the placing of any intact puppies. We do not sell to anyone who breeds for the primary purpose of selling puppies, pet shops, or brokers. If you are new and interested in showing dogs we recommend you read our page about "wanting your 1st show puppy" before purchasing your 1st "show prospect". We welcome any questions you may have and are always willing to help when we can.
Specific Puppy Requirements
We realize everyone has that “ideal” image in their head about what they want in a puppy. “Light colored, long hair, 3 pounds, female. Etc” PLEASE keep in mind is these are living breathing little fur babies that will become part of your family. A certain color, coat or sex will not necessarily make you love them anymore or any less. We breed each litter with health, good temperaments, soundness, and pretty Chihuahua “type” in mind. If you are searching for a healthy, quality example of the breed a Destiny baby might be right for you!
We often get requests for TINY babies, which for the average family we strongly suggest against. Chihuahuas are already the smallest breed of dog, period. The Chihuahua Club of America standard reads a Chihuahua should no more than 6 pounds. Since we breed ONLY to the standard and for our next generation/show prospect our adults are generally between 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 pounds for health and soundness purposes and their puppies usually fall in the same range. Occasionally we get a very very small baby, but we only place them in very experienced Chihuahua owners hands that are experienced with tiny chi babies, with no children, or large pets. They often are not stable enough to go their new homes till 4-6 months old and still need lots of care to keep healthy. They are individually priced based on the amount of time and work we have in them, since they often require more work and specific care.
We will take requests for certain “physical type requirements” but it will often keep you on our waiting list much longer as we can not make puppies to custom order for ourselves let alone others. When it comes to our babies we try to match up the right temperaments with the right homes as our primary focus. Physical characteristics are much further down on our priority list when finding the “right” loving homes for our babies. If you are interested in any of our puppies please contact us and tell us a little bit about yourself.
